Course content

20 units

First aid requirement:
This course contains a core unit, HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting, which must be completed through an external RTO. Australian Institute of Personal Trainers has an agreement in place with Red Cross Australia (RTOID 3605) which allows students to receive training for this unit at a reduced price. Red Cross Australia is a third party training provider who conduct training and assessment services on behalf of Australian Institute of Personal Trainers.

  • Computer: Laptop or desktop computer with working speaks or headphone points
  • Internet: High-speed internet such as Broadband ADSL, T1/T2 or fibre optic
  • Internet browser: Internet Explorer 7 or higher, or the latest version of Google Chrome
  • Operating system (Windows): Windows XP, Vista 7 or above
  • Operating system (Mac): OS X 10.4 or above
  • Software: Flash, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word (or Open Office)

You study part of this course online, and complete the practical component in a real gym with a qualified personal trainer.

Choose from three ways to study:

1. Fast-track on campus

  • Get qualified fast at one of Australian Institute of Personal Trainers’ 100 campuses across Australia.
  • 52 hours of face-to-face structured learning and practical experience with a Personal Trainer in a real gym, delivered over 8 weeks.
  • 20 units to complete online at your own pace.
  • 3 intakes a year.
  • Learn in a group with other students.

2. Choose your own mentor

  • Choose an experienced Personal Trainer to mentor you through the practical parts of the course - your mentor must be approved by the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers.
  • 40 hours of practical experience with your mentor in a real gym.
  • Gain hands-on experience and observe real personal training sessions with clients.
  • 20 units to complete online at your own pace.
  • Start anytime.

3. Get paired with a mentor

  • Australian Institute of Personal Trainers will pair you up with a mentor who is a qualified Personal Trainer in your local area.
  • 40 hours of practical experience with your mentor in a real gym.
  • Gain hands-on experience and observe real personal training sessions with clients.
  • 20 units to complete online at your own pace.
  • Start anytime.

Support

  • Technical Advisors and Specialists provide one-on-one coaching sessions over the phone. They’re industry experts who will support you to complete each unit of the course. You can contact them 8am–6:30pm on weekdays.
  • Australian Institute of Personal Trainers have a Support Plan for each student, which ensures you’re contacted regularly and progressing through the course.
  • The team of Student Support Officers are dedicated to helping you graduate and will help you find a solution to any hurdles you’re facing.
  • You will receive a Study Plan that shows how long each unit will take to complete – a great tool to help you stay on track and plan your breaks from study.
